Registration with the Market Operator is a pre-requisite for participation in the WESM, as specified in the WESM Rules. As provided for in the WESM Rules, no person or entity may inject or withdraw electricity from the grid unless registered as a WESM member.

The following will register to participate in the WESM –

• System Operator
• Generation Companies
• Ancillary Services Provider
• Distribution Utilities
• Suppliers
• Metering Services Provider
• Bulk consumers/end users
• Other entities authorized by the ERC to become members of the WESM

Applications for registration to participate in the WESM are submitted to and evaluated by the Market Operator in accordance with the requirements of the WESM Rules. Applications are received through the Market Operations Help Desk.
